1 - Introduction
Internet Software Download (ISD) is for use by Philips authorised users. They are able, via a secure link using their computer and the Internet, to update the software of Philips mobile phones. ISD checks the operator validated software release with the hardware level of the phone, prior to accepting the phone for an update.
This update does not alter any contractual parameters already signed with our customers (Network operator's Simlock keys and functionality's).
2 - Configuration
To use ISD, the following minimum computer configuration is required:

3 - User guide

Before starting up the ISD application, make sure you are connected to the Internet.

To start the ISD application, double-click on the ISD icon which is on the computer " desk top ". It is recommended to add the URL address to your " favourites ".

Once you are on the ISD " Home " page, click on the " ENTER " button

Enter your login and password in order to be identified. These are supplied via email from Philips. If necessary, contact the CS Support centre.

Please follow the following steps accurately in order to successfully update the phone:

Make sure that the product to update is part of the "Downloadable
products list ".
To view the list click on the " Downloadable product list " button.

5.2. |
Plug the Philips supplied cable into the serial port of your computer and click on
the button " Configuration Serial link ". Select from the displayed list the serial port into which you have just plugged the cable.

Make sure the phone battery has enough charge (2 bars are the minimum
necessary)

Switch off the phone

Plug the cable into the phone connector.

Press the "START" button

At this stage, ISD automatically analyses which of two possibilities are valid :

6.1. |
1rst possibility : ISD decides that your phone does not need an update. It can be for any of the following reasons :
|

The phone already has the latest software validated by the operator
|
| |
|
- |
The hardware level of your phone is incompatible and needs modifying
before donwloading the most recent software version.
|
| |
|
- |
The software architecture has changed and is incompatible with the
current software version of the phone.
|

6.2. |
2nd possibility : ISD decides to update the phone's software. It is mandatory to declare that the product is under warranty or not (Ask for the proof of purchase -product invoice - Philips products being under warranty for one year from the date of purchase).

ISD will check that your computer has locally (on the disk of your computer) all the necessary files to update the phone (wait just a few seconds). Otherwise ISD will upload the needed files via the Internet (wait only a few minutes).

ISD will then update the software in the phone (2 to 4 minutes depending on the software version).

Click on "Testing procedure " in order to complete the necessary tests of the phone before giving it back to the customer. |
4 - Recommendations
It is imperative to respect the following rules :

Never communicate your login and password. They are prepared for your own use. They are compatible with and unique to the PC where your version of the ISD application is installed. |

Only use the Philips cable supplied. |

Do not modify the structure of the ISD directory. |

All files within ISD's directory are the property of Philips. It is strictly forbidden to use them for any other purpose. Failure to comply could result in legal prosecution. |

It is important to stick to the correct order of the steps in the procedure to update the mobile phone. If you do not you may lock-up the phone. |

It is forbidden to copy the CD ROM. |
| - |
It is forbidden to open or modify the supplied cable. |
| - |
The phone must be charged enough to be able to go through the complete update procedure (2 bars minimum of the icon battery displayed on the screen of the phone). |

Do not unplug the cable when the update procedure is running. There is a risk of making the phone unusable. If the download procedure is stopped and the phone blocked, you will have to exchange the mobile phone for another one (same Type / Version). |
5 -Questions & Answers
Q : Can we install the ISD on more than one computer ?
A : Yes, under the condition you make the request to your Philips contact beforehand. But remember the following - only one access per person and computer is allowable.
Q : Can I change my Login / Password ?
A : No, the Login / Password cannot be changed. The validity period is 6 months. You will be notified by mail of your new Login / Password.
Q : To run the ISD application, is it necessary to have the CD Rom in the driver ?
A : No, once the ISD application has been installed, the CD Rom is not required.
Q : Can I use the Philips Data Connect cable?
A : Yes, but this latter is not an automatic cable, some extra operations during the process will requested (eg. "switch mobile ON").
Q : Can I update all Philips GSM phones?
A : No, you will find on the " Identification " page, the list of all the products for which a update is possible.
Q : What happens if the phone-computer cable is unplugged during " Update " ?
A : The phone - computer cable must not be unplugged during the "Update " phase. The risk is to lock-up the phone. If this should happen, the phone will have to be exchanged.
Q : Does the phone loose any user parameters with the Download operation ?
A : No, the ISD has been made specially to download the software of the phone, without touching the programmed settings (ringer, volume, phone book, etc.) as well as the parameters for the radio and operator simlock.
Q : Is it possible to change the language of the ISD application?
A : No, English is the default language.
